To lead a diverse, global and multidisciplinary scientific community focused on the cell, the basic unit of all life.

The ASCB brand is meant to correspond to the forward-thinking, innovative, and dynamic discipline that is cell biology.

ASCB Logo/Brand Guidelines

  • ASCB logo/or name should not be used in any way that could suggest endorsement of your product or service without written consent from the ASCB.
  • ASCB logo/or name should not be used in a way that suggests that you or the agency you represent are acting as official representatives or spokesperson of the ASCB in any capacity (Including but not limited to: social media pages, forums, meeting websites etc.)
  • With permission, ASCB Logos may only be used by outside organizations in the colors and formats provided below without any alterations.
  • Black and blue logos should be used on light or white backgrounds, and white logo should be used on dark colored or black backgrounds (like the sample shown below).
  • ASCB logo should be displayed no smaller than 2.5 inches wide, otherwise the tagline is difficult or impossible to read
  • ASCB may request at any time that you remove a logo from your site

ASCB Social Media Policy Guidelines

The following are guidelines for elected officers, journal editors, volunteers and staff of ASCB and subunits of ASCB (such as committees and taskforces) who participate in social media. Social media includes personal blogs and other websites, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and others. These guidelines apply whether an ASCB affiliate or group is posting to their own sites or commenting on other sites:

  • Where your affiliation to ASCB is stated, make it clear that you are speaking for yourself and not on behalf of ASCB. In those circumstances, you should include this disclaimer: “The views expressed on this [blog; website] are my own.” Consider adding this language in an “About me” or bio section of your blog or social media profile.
  • If you identify your affiliation to ASCB, your social media activities should be consistent with ASCB’s high standards of professional conduct. Be professional, respectful, use good judgment and be accurate and honest in your communications; errors, omissions or unprofessional language or behavior reflect poorly on ASCB and may result in liability for you or ASCB.
  • Unless approved by the Social Media Manager and/or CEO, your social media name, handle and URL should not include ASCB’s name or logo. (See ASCB Branding Guidelines.)
  • Committees, taskforces and other groups organized under the ASCB should not create separate social media accounts, but should work with the marketing manager and social media manager to get their messages out via the official ASCB channels. Exceptions may be granted by the CEO.
