Force-generating machines; force-detecting mechanisms, force regulation of cell and tissue phenotype; force regulation of tissue development and homeostasis, perturbed force in disease; measuring force at the subcellular, cellular, and tissue level; manipulating force at the subcellular, cellular, and tissue level; modeling force at the single cell and tissue level.

Quantitative Cell Biology

The collection of research in these issues recognizes the profound influence that concepts and technologies from the physical and computational sciences are having on cell biology.

The issue features research in the areas of:
Quantitative imaging, superresolution imaging techniques and their applications, single-molecule biology, biophysical properties of cells and cell structures, computational and mathematical modeling, systems studies of cell signaling and complex physiological processes, innovative physical or computational approache sto cell biological problems, and big data methods and applications.
