I hope this message finds you well and you had a great start to the New Year.

To showcase the exciting research in quantitative cell biology, lead editors Jennifer Lippincott-Schwartz, Alex Mogilner, and Diane Lidke invite you to contribute to the Molecular Biology of the Cell (MBoC) 10th Annual Special Issue on Quantitative Cell Biology. MBoC welcomes the submissions of research Articles, Brief Reports, Reviews, and Methods and Resources papers.

MBoC the respected research publication of ASCB, provides constructive, fast, and fair review, by research-active scientists. In 2024, we started a new initiative: ASCB Member Benefit – Guaranteed Peer Review in MBoC. We would appreciate your help in getting out the word about submissions to your network of colleagues.

Early submissions are encouraged and will be reviewed as they are submitted. This special issue will be published as a digital collection, and papers will appear online as they are accepted. We look forward to seeing your manuscript!

Research Topics of this special issue

Submissions are welcomed in a variety of areas including: 

  • Quantitative imaging
  • Superresolution imaging techniques and their applications
  • Single-molecule biology
  • Biophysical properties of cells and cell structures
  • Computational and mathematical modeling
  • Systems studies of cell signaling and complex physiological processes
  • Innovative physical or computational approaches to cell biological problems
  • Big data methods and applications  

This issue will build on the great success of previous issues, published in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and will provide an opportunity for researchers whose work crosses disciplines to a wider audience.

In this Special Issue, the results of your research will be highly visible to scientists in a wide range of disciplines. Articles from each issue are sent to 15,000 recipients of MBoC’s electronic tables of contents and promoted on ASCB’s social media channels. Selected articles will be listed in MBoC’s special Quarterly Highlights email as well as the ASCB Newsletter. ASCB and MBoC will also host a webinar featuring talks from selected papers in the Special Issue.

Submissions will be reviewed as they are submitted. This special issue will be published as a digital collection, but papers will appear online as they are accepted.
