Basquin et al. found, using ultrastructural electron microscopy, that bursts of actin facilitate clathrin independent endocytosis of interleukin-2 receptors at the base of membrane protrusions. Total internal reflection fluorescence microscopy revealed that the actin polymerization is caused by WAVE, N-WASP, and Arp2/3 complexes. Published in EMBO.
