This conference, jointly organized by the 4D Nucleome (4DN) network and the American Society of Cell Biology (ASCB), will feature recent technological and conceptual advances in research of the higher order chromatin organization in eukaryotic cells. The 4DN network was launched in 2015 as an NIH Common Fund project, and its goal is to develop and apply approaches to map chromatin structure and dynamics to gain a deeper mechanistic understanding of how the nucleus is functionally organized. The ASCB is an international community of over 9000 scientists studying the biology of cell. The 2019 4DN-ASCB Satellite Meeting aims to highlight rapid progress in the study of genome organization and facilitate the dissemination of new technologies and concepts to the broader cell biology community.

Friday, December 6

2019 Biotech Mini-Course

The American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB) and Keck Graduate Institute (KGI) will offer a one-day course for graduate students and postdocs on Friday, December 6, 2019, the day before the ASCB/EMBO Meeting. The course will help basic scientists become more competitive for jobs in biotech, pharma, and industry. The course will be held in Washington, DC.

Course Objectives:

Learn about processes by which scientific discoveries are translated into bioscience ventures and understand common business strategies
Combine your scientific, business, and social skills to make you business-ready and competitive for a professional career
Network with representatives from local biotech companies

Saturday, December 7

This doorstep symposium features leaders in genome instability and therapies who have studied mechanisms by which cancer cells respond.

This full-day symposium will take place on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC from 8:00 am – 4:15 pm. The meeting is being organized by Karlene Cimprich, Stanford University, and David Pellman, Harvard Medical School and Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Invited speakers include:
