Antifungal resistance is the new global risk that threatens us and although measures have been taken to stop it, there are still challenges that require the continuous cooperation of scientific researchers, clinicians, public and policy makers to make a healthy society and more sustainable.

There are many career possibilities for those interested in the sciences. Come to the “Careers in the Core Facilities” discussion table to learn about career opportunities in the core facilities which will include discussions about teaching, research and mentoring.

Discussion on how graduate students and postdocs can navigate gaining pedagogical professional development and teaching experience while balancing progress in research, the regional and national resources that are available, and how research mentors can support trainees in these opportunities.

This roundtable will provide ideas, materials, and guidance for introducing and facilitating discussions about diversity and inclusion in science courses. We will provide information about websites, classroom activities, and discussion prompts to include in courses at all levels.

This discussion session will begin with a group introduction, then attendees will break into smaller groups (of 3-4 attendees per group) to encourage discussion. The roundtable discussion leader(s) will have a set of icebreaker questions and discussion topics (described below) to promote dialogue.

Discuss strategies and approaches to engage undergraduates in research. Starting topics will include: balancing coursework with lab work, realistic expectations of student performance, establishing a mentoring relationship, and using lab courses to provide research experiences.

Many faculty struggle to find effective ways to incorporate primary literature into their coursework, although the reading of such articles is an essential scientific skill. Come learn and discuss a variety of tried-and-true ways to introduce primary literature into your undergraduate classroom.
