Hosted by ASCB’s Molecular Biology of the Cell (MBoC) journal, this webinar spotlights groundbreaking research from the MBoC Special Issue “Forces On and Within Cells.” The program features a keynote presentation by ASCB President Rong Li, followed by lightning talks from early-career scientists whose outstanding work was published in this issue. Attendees will gain insights into emerging concepts in cell mechanics, research methodologies, and interdisciplinary approaches shaping the future of cell biology.
Learning Outcomes
By participating in this webinar, attendees will:
- Discover innovative research approaches and methodologies in cell biology.
- Strengthen professional communication skills through exposure to diverse presentation styles and scientific storytelling.
- Build connections within the ASCB community by engaging in a collaborative scientific forum.
Keynote Speaker

Rong Li, Ph.D., Johns Hopkins University & National University of Singapore
Dr. Rong Li received her B.S. and M.S. degrees from Yale University and Ph.D. from the University of California, San Francisco. She was previously Bloomberg Distinguished Professor at Johns Hopkins University before joining the National University of Singapore as Distinguish Professor and Director of Mechanobiology Institute in 2019. She served on the council and is President 2026 of the ASCB. She studies cellular dynamics and mechanics, focusing on understanding the morphogenesis, stress adaptation and aging of eukaryotic cells.
Talk Title: Dynamics and mechanics in development and aging of eukaryotic cells
