MBoC COVID-19 Update for Authors and Reviewers

MBoC accommodations for revisions and review during the coronavirus pandemic

Dear Colleagues:

The Editors of Molecular Biology of the Cell (MBoC) want to assure you that, in spite of disruptions caused by the coronavirus pandemic, we are operating as usual and are here to help you communicate your science. We have made the following adjustments to deal with the pandemic:

For current and future authors: For authors with papers already under consideration, we want to reassure you that MBoC has always been flexible with regard to timelines for submitting revised papers. Furthermore, we encourage you to communicate with the editorial office to formulate a revision plan if reviewers have requested experiments that cannot be accomplished now due to the current circumstances.

For future authors, we understand that it may be a good time to write and submit your manuscript, even if that one last experiment is on hold. We encourage you to communicate with the editorial office if you have questions, and submit your manuscripts with the understanding that MBoC is committed to selecting quality peer reviewers and providing constructive feedback on your work.

For reviewers: We appreciate the efforts of our reviewers, especially during these difficult times. We understand that it may require additional time to complete reviews and we will extend reviewer deadlines as necessary and appropriate.

Please be well and continue your work to advance knowledge in cell biology. At MBoC we will evaluate your work fairly, constructively, and quickly, and help you communicate its significance.

With best wishes,
Matt Welch
Editor-in-Chief, MBoC
