The American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB) seeks an inspirational and dynamic leader to serve as its next Executive Director (ED). Founded in 1960, ASCB is the primary voice for the cell biology community. It is dedicated to advancing scientific discovery, advocating sound research policies, improving education, promoting professional development, and increasing diversity in the scientific workforce. The Society currently has 9,000 members in the United States and more than 62 countries around the world.

The next ED will be an accomplished professional who brings the stature, passion, and experience to work in partnership with the volunteer Executive Committee and Council and other Society leaders. S/he will manage a professional staff of 24 based in Bethesda, Maryland.

At a time of unprecedented biological achievements, the next ED will work with the Council to chart a strategic course for ASCB to ensure it sustains its mission and the vitality of discovery. S/he will provide strong leadership and management for the staff; improve current and develop innovative revenue models that will support ASCB’s core mission; and serve as a persuasive advocate and communicator before the scientific community, policy makers, industry groups, and funding organizations.
