Annual cell bio meeting goes virtual

After careful consideration, the ASCB Council unanimously voted to cancel the in-person meeting scheduled to be held in Philadelphia in December and instead hold Cell Bio Virtual 2020-An Online ASCB|EMBO Meeting. The health and safety of our members remains paramount during this ongoing global pandemic.

The abstract submission system for Cell Bio Virtual 2020 is now open for those interested in giving virtual talks. To be considered for a talk, you must submit your abstract by July 30. There will be abstract submission fees from $80-$130 depending on membership status and submission date.

Meeting registration, opening in mid-July, will be free for ASCB members and members of the EMBO* community. Click here to view nonmember registration rates. You can save up to $159 on registration and abstract submission when you become an ASCB member.

Cell Bio Virtual 2020 will include all of the familiar sessions found at our in-person events–symposia, minisymposia, posters, subgroups, career and professional development programs, award lectures, tech talks, and opportunities for networking. Programming at this new meeting also will follow the recently launched thematic tracks —seven scientific and one professional development and education—so that attendees can design a personalized meeting experience.

ASCB is currently researching the best platform upon which to host the meeting and is gathering feedback in this survey through July 22. We will provide additional information on our website and via email on August 3.

ASCB hopes this shift to an online event will enable researchers to access even more cutting-edge science and enable more scientists around the globe to participate. ASCB’s Meetings Team is taking all the needs of our members into consideration as they design the best possible meeting experience for the cell biology community.
