Online with LSE: Identifying Troublesome Jargon in Biology


There is a lot of discipline specific and technical vocabulary used in biology, but what “jargon” is difficult for students? This session of Online with LSE hosts Lisa McDonnell, Associate Teaching Professor at the University of California San Diego, to discuss student perceptions of understanding as well as discrepancies between performance and understanding to gain insight into which jargon terms may be troublesome for students during their biology learning.
