Rock Talker Leaving NIH for New USDA Research Effort, Walter Koroshetz named Director of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke

Sally Rockey, who was NIH’s Delphic Oracle with her inside viewpoint “Rock Talk” blog, is leaving the NIH Office of Extramural Research to become the Director of the new Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The foundation is the USDA’s new initiative to build public-private collaborations on agricultural research.

Walter Koroshetz, who was serving as Acting Director of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), was selected as Director of the NINDS. As NINDS Director, Koroshetz will oversee a $1.6 billion budget annually as well as 1,141 scientists, physician-scientists, and research administrators. Koroshetz also serves as co-chair of the NIH BRAIN Initiative.
