The Communications subcommittee of ASCB’s COMPASS announced earlier this year the first annual COMPASS Science Writing Contest, with the topic of “challenges for the biomedical research enterprise.” We were thrilled with the quantity and quality of articles submitted by ASCB’s graduate student and postdoctoral members, and we are proud to announce the contest winners:
- 1st Place: Aditi Dubey, graduate student at Rutgers University. Her article is titled “Challenges for the Biomedical Research Enterprise”
- 2nd Place: Aliyah Weinstein, graduate student at University of Pittsburgh. Her article is titled “Through Biased Lenses: The Public Perception of Science Has Changed, but the New View is No Better”
- 3rd Place: James Kraemer, postdoc at Howard Hughes Medical Institute/Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Marcy Erb, postdoc at Harvard University. Their article is titled “Workforce Issues: What About the Postdocs Already Swimming in the Pool? What Becomes of Us?”
