This Program Manager position at the American Society for Cell Biology will assist with the organizing, planning, and execution of professional development and educational programming, including networking, mentorship, and skills training for early career scholars in STEM. This position supports ASCB’s NIH-Funded MOSAIC Program aimed at enhancing diversity in the biomedical research workforce. This position will ensure successful implementation of the MOSAIC program, support all goals of the grant, and cultivate strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including program funder, early career scholars, mentors, partner organizations, and co-investigators.  This position reports to the Director of Professional Development and works closely with program leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure effective onboarding of new early career scholars into the program, building community within each cohort and connection with the ASCB society.
  • Support program leadership in developing, implementing, and monitoring a successful mentorship program for early career scholars.
  • Organize engaging and impactful virtual and in-person skills training sessions for early career scholars.
  • Responsible for all event planning and logistics for virtual and in-person grant-funded events and ensuring successful outcomes of events.
  • Utilize ASCB channels to communicate program news and achievements to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage program budget, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently and in compliance with ASCB policies and funder guidelines.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for all program activities.
  • Responsible for all administrative support necessary for program implementation and oversight, including participant and leadership regular meeting support, materials and resource development and maintenance, database updating and data management, invoice and reimbursement processing, and external evaluator engagement.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve program effectiveness and efficiency. Analyze data and feedback to identify areas for enhancement and implement necessary changes.
  • Work collaboratively with staff across the organization to support the program’s goals.
  • Perform other program-related tasks as assigned.

Background and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 3-5 years of related work experience.
  • Experience with federal funding policies and guidelines preferred.
  • Association experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft Office with an advanced understanding of Excel and Google Sheets.
  • Experience with project management software.
  • Experience with budget management and expense tracking.
  • Experience in event planning and logistics.

Position Requirements:

Travel up to 20% of the time, including weekends.

This position is currently remote, reporting to the office once a week. The ASCB Headquarters is located in Rockville, MD, 20852.

The MOSAIC program is funded by the National Institutes of Health. The funding for this position is guaranteed for two years, with renewal possible.
