In celebration of Pride Month, ASCB LGBTQ+ Committee member and Assistant Professor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Dr. Campanale sits down with Dr. Katelyn Cooper, Associate Professor at Arizona State University and lead author of LGBTQ+ Realities in Biological Sciences, now published in CBE—Life Science Education. This landmark study, the largest survey of LGBTQ+ biologists ever conducted, spans five professional societies and nearly 1,400 respondents, asking a question that is deeply personal to many in our community: what is it actually like to be an LGBTQ+ biologist today? In this conversation, Dr. Cooper walks us through the study’s key findings, what they mean for our community, and what we can all do to move the needle forward.

Listen to the recorded conversation with Dr. Katelyn Cooper.
