The joint American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB) - European Cytoskeleton Forum (ECF) Summer Meeting will be held June 27-30, 2007, at The Dijon Congrexpo in Dijon, France. The conference, Dynamic Interplay Between Cytoskeletal and Membrane Systems, will be open to 200 registrants, and is being organized by David Drubin of the University of California, Berkeley, Daniel Louvard of the Curie Institute, Paris, and Laura M. Machesky of the University of Birmingham, UK.
The meeting will focus on diverse biological processes—including membrane trafficking, cell adhesion and motility, tumor cell invasion, and host-pathogen interactions— that depend on intimate functional and regulatory interactions between cytoskeletal and membrane systems. Understanding how these dynamic systems interact physically, and how such interactions affect the biochemical activities of each system, is crucial for understanding many cell biological processes and the basis for a wide variety of human diseases. The ASCB-ECF meeting will bring together leading investigators exploring the interface between cytoskeletal and membrane systems, and will stimulate international scientific discourse on this important topic.
