ASCB Election Results: Walter Voted President-Elect, Four Councilors Picked

2015 ASCB President-Elect.
After a month of online voting by ASCB members, Peter Walter of the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), was voted 2015 President-Elect. Walter, who is also a Howard Hughes Medical Institute investigator, will serve on the ASCB Executive Committee next year before becoming President in 2016 and continuing on as Past President in 2017.

Four members were elected to three-year terms on the ASCB Council beginning in 2015:

  • Tony Hyman, Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics, Dresden, Germany
  • Ira Mellman, Genentech Inc. and UCSF
  • Denise J. Montell, University of California, Santa Barbara
  • Samara L. Reck-Peterson, Harvard Medical School

Running unopposed, Gary J. Gorbsky of the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center was elected ASCB Treasurer while Kathleen J.
