Marty Chalfie tweetGot a piece of venerable (if supposedly functional) equipment taking up bench space? Turn it into an ASCB #ThrowbackThursday winner! The ASCB Post is ramping up its weekly Twitter hashtags with a cell biology twist. #ThrowbackThursday, which features blasts from the ASCB past like old photos of ASCB members (with the opportunity to guess the identity) or a landmark paper published back in the day, is adding a new category for historic/obsolete lab equipment. No raiding historic displays or science museums. This has to come from somewhere in your lab space. If you think you have some wonderfully old and/or weird lab gear, snap a photo and send a description to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . We'll feature your lab on the Post and on Twitter under #ThrowbackThursday. If you've got something special (a hand crank centrifuge that still gets used?), we'll reward you with a sample of our coveted ASCB memorabilia. (Have you seen our cell tattoos?).

For #FridayFunnies, the ASCB Post will scour the Internet for the funniest, cheesiest, and nerdiest example of science humor. It's the kind of lighthearted tickle, you need on a Friday after your new student uses up all the RNA from your 208 most precious samples (and doesn't get any results).
