Submit by August 4 to be considered for a Minisymposium Talk or Minisymposium Lightning Talk.

Minisymposium Talk

Minisymposia Talks are 15 minutes with a 5-minute Q&A.

Minisymposium Lightning Talk

Minisymposia Lightning Talks occur at the end of the session and are 5 minutes with a 1- 2-minute Q&A.

Minisymposium Information

There will be approximately 25 Minisymposia under 8 umbrella topics. Minisymposia subtopics will be determined in late August after all abstracts are submitted. Six to 7 Minisymposia run concurrently Sunday-Tuesday afternoon (4:00-6:25 pm), and Wednesday morning (8:30-10:55 am).

Click here to view the 8 umbrella Minisymposia Topics.

Each Minisymposium will be one of the following formats based on the number and quality of abstracts submitted to each umbrella topic:

  • Five Minisymposia Talks followed by 6 Minisymposia Lightning Talks
  • Six Minisymposia talks followed by 3 Minisymposia Lightning Talks
  • Seven Minisymposia Talks

Microsymposium Talk Format

Submit by August 4 to be considered for a Microsymposium Talk. During Step 3: Submission Details of abstract submission, you must check this box under “Presentation Preference.”

Microsymposia talks offer an exciting opportunity to give an oral presentation onstage with your multimedia electronic poster on a large screen.

The Microsymposia talk topics are the same as the Minisymposia topics. Please click here to view the list of topics.

This year, there will be a total of 18 Microsymposia sessions with seven speakers each. Each Microsymposium talk will be five minutes. After the completion of all seven Microsymposia talks, there will be dedicated time for Q&A while the individual electronic posters are displayed on screens around the perimeter of the room.

Microsymposia sessions will be on Sunday-Tuesday afternoons from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

NEW This Year! Microsymposia talk presenters will have the option of presenting one to three PowerPoint slides during the talk portion of the presentation. If you present using PowerPoint slides, you will still need to prepare an electronic poster for viewing on the individual screens around the room for the Q&A period.

Please note: If you are selected for both a Microsymposium Talk and a poster, and they conflict, you will be expected to be present at the Microsymposia talk and not at your poster board.

Poster Presentation Format

You can submit by the following three deadlines to present a poster:

  • August 4, at 9:00 pm EDT (deadline for expedited review for Visa-related purposes)
  • September 1, at 9:00 pm EDT
  • October 16, at 9:00 pm EDT (this final deadline has a higher fee).

(Click here for list of Poster Topics)

Posters are displayed throughout the meeting, beginning Saturday evening through Tuesday afternoon. Posters are on display from the evening before the poster session until the afternoon after the session. Poster presentations occur between 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm Sunday through Tuesday in the ASCB Learning Center. Poster sessions are each 90 minutes, one from 12:00-1:30 pm and one from 1:30-3:00 pm.

ASCB will email you in early November with detailed poster presentation information. Click here for more information about notifications.

Abstract submitters will be accepted to give a poster presentation as long as their abstracts present data and show that research has occurred, and they are not commercial in nature. Please click here, for Tips to Ensure Acceptance.
